Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a system of alternative medicine that was developed in the 18th century by Samuel Hahnemann. It is based on the belief that "like cures like," meaning that a substance that causes a particular set of symptoms in healthy people can be used to treat those same symptoms in sick people. Homeopathic remedies are made by diluting a substance in water or alcohol until it is undetectable. This process is called "potentization." Homeopaths believe that the more a substance is diluted, the more potent it becomes. Homeopathy is used to treat a wide variety of health conditions, including allergies, anxiety, depression, and pain. However, there is no scientific evidence to support the effectiveness of homeopathy. In fact, a number of studies have shown that homeopathy is no more effective than a placebo. The World Health Organization (WHO) has stated that there is "no convincing evidence" that homeopathy is effective for any health condition. Despite t...

How to Store Herbs

Herbs can be stored fresh, dried, or frozen. The best way to store herbs depends on the type of herb and how you plan to use it.

Fresh herbs

Fresh herbs should be stored in a cool, dark place. You can store them in the refrigerator, in a glass of water, or in a sealed container.

  • Refrigerator: To store fresh herbs in the refrigerator, wrap them in a damp paper towel and place them in a sealed container. This will help to keep them fresh for up to a week.
  • A glass of water: To store fresh herbs in a glass of water, trim the stems and place them in a glass of water. Change the water every day. This will help to keep the herbs fresh for up to 3 days.
  • Sealed container: To store fresh herbs in a sealed container, wash them thoroughly and pat them dry. Then, place them in a sealed container and store them in the refrigerator. This will help to keep the herbs fresh for up to 2 days.

Dried herbs

Dried herbs can be stored in a cool, dark place for up to a year.

  • Air-drying: To air-dry herbs, spread them out on a clean, dark surface in a well-ventilated area. Allow them to dry completely, which can take several days. Once the herbs are dry, store them in an airtight container.
  • Oven-drying: To oven-dry herbs, preheat the oven to the lowest setting. Spread the herbs out on a baking sheet and place them in the oven. Allow them to dry for 2-3 hours, or until they are completely dry. Once the herbs are dry, store them in an airtight container.

Frozen herbs

Frozen herbs can be stored for up to 6 months.

  • Wash and chop: To freeze herbs, wash them thoroughly and chop them up. Then, place them in a freezer-safe container and freeze them.
  • Make herb ice cubes: To make herb ice cubes, combine fresh herbs with water in an ice cube tray. Freeze the cubes and then use them in soups, stews, or smoothies.

No matter how you choose to store your herbs, be sure to label the container with the name of the herb and the date you stored it. This will help you to keep track of how long the herbs have been stored and when they need to be used.
